The KTCCCA has purchased a LongTom Turbojav packet for each Area. Each packet contains three(3)
500 gram (for girls) and three(3) 600 gram (for boys) LongTom Turbojavs as well as instruction CD's
and lesson plans for physical education class. These packets are to be used in each area for instruction
and meets. The middle school committee has recommended that the LongTom Turbojav be added as an event for
the middle school state meet. The KTCCCA Board of Directors will vote on their recommendation in the near
future. A number of coaches have talked about adding this event to their meets either as a scoring or
non-scoring event.
The following members have the kits; contact them for information. Theoretically with three in each kit,
it could be possible to have the event at three different meets on the same day in each area. The logistics
are to be worked out in each area. Further info on turbojavs is available at www.turbozones.com

To set up a javelin sector, the runway would be 4 meters wide. You can use a grass runway or run up.
The scratch line is 8 meters from the center point used to mark the sector. Start with the 0 and 50 meter
mark of a tape measure at the center point. Then extend the tape out and the edges of the sector will be
marked at the 20 and 30 meter marks. You can use the same number of feet instead of meters or use 0-60-90-150.
The scratch line would be at the 8 meter and 42 meter marks. The 8 & 20 marks would be the right sector line
and the 30 and 42 marks would be the left sector line.
